Thawing your steaks

Best results will occur if you remove your steaks from the freezer and place them in the refrigerator. Allow 24-36 hours to thaw. Leave the vacuum wrap on during thawing to preserve the flavor and natural juices. The next best method is to use a cold water thaw. Place the vacuum-wrapped steaks in cold water for one to two hours. Never defrost steaks in the microwave because it will make the meat tough and dry.

Preparing your steaks

For best results, we recommend cooking the steaks to medium rare, or an internal temperature of 145 degrees, on high heat. Beef that is cooked well done cannot be guaranteed.

Shipping and Handling

Shipping is included with KU Alumni Association steaks.  For orders of more than three (3) packages, call for possible discount pricing. If you would like to request an estimated UPS delivery date prior to ordering, call toll-free 1-800-584-2957. If calling after hours, please leave a message and we will return your call the next business day.

Orders are shipped on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week to ensure delivery of all orders by Friday. Orders require 24 hours for processing. Orders received after 12 noon CST Wednesday are shipped the following Monday. For overnight or rush order handling, please call us at 1-800-584-2957 for details and additional charges. 

Holiday Delivery

To ensure adequate time for UPS delivery before Christmas, please place all orders by Dec. 18th. Orders placed after Dec. 18th will require a per package rush order handling fee and may not arrive in time for Christmas.

Shipping Addresses

To guarantee UPS delivery on all orders, we must have proper and complete addresses. We’re sorry but UPS cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes or A.P.O. and F.P.O. addresses. We can deliver to rural routes with complete addresses and telephone numbers. The KU Alumni Association cannot be responsible for customer errors in ordering or providing shipping addresses. A $10 charge will be applied to each order that requires an address correction while in transit.

Product Being Shipped

Because steaks are perishable, extra-special care is taken in shipping steaks to their final destinations. Your steaks will arrive individually vacuum-sealed and flash frozen, packed in KU gift boxes, placed in a reusable Styrofoam shipping cooler with dry ice and shipped out via UPS.

A Reminder

When you are sending steaks as a gift, please inform the recipient of the approaching delivery. Packages are delivered via UPS without requiring a signature. This prevents packages from being returned to the terminal and spoiling. The KU Alumni Association cannot be responsible for packages that are delivered to gift recipients that you have not notified.

Satisfaction Guarantee

The KU Alumni Association guarantees the quality and grade of our product; that our product will arrive in good condition (chilled or frozen); and that you receive what you ordered. We want you to be satisfied. If we do not meet these guarantees, we will replace your order. For replacement, you must contact us at 1-800-584-2957 during business hours the next day after you received your order.
